As part of Council’s 2011/12 Capital Works Program, improvements are required to the Heads Road bridge crossing at the Mullum Mullum Creek.
The works will require full closure of Heads Road at the bridge at all times, for a period of six weeks, between 7.00am on Monday 26th March and 5.00pm on Monday 7th May 2012.
The work being undertaken will involve:
Strengthening the bridge to provide sufficient anchorage to the barrier railing posts. This will include the construction of a new concrete deck; and
Stabilising the creek banks at the bridge site to reduce future erosion
DRPA made some suggestions to the works which have been included:
Installation of a culvert to create a dry pedestrian access to the path on the south east (Ringwood) side; and
Additional line markings to highlight the give way sign on the west approach.
The bridge will remain single lane at the current width and there will be no extra space for pedestrians, however a pedestrian bridge is planned later under the extension of the Mullum Mullum Trail (Phase 3).
